5일 오전 서울중앙지법 형사4단독(이환기 부장판사)은 도로교통법 위반(음주운전) 등 혐의를 받는 김새론에게 벌금 2000만원을 선고했다.On the morning of July 5, the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Kim Sae-ron, who was accused of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving), to a fine of 20 million won.

재판부는 "사고 당시 피고인의 혈중알코올농도가 높았고 운전거리도 짧지 않아 엄벌할 필요가 있다"면서도 "잘못을 인정하고 피해 대부분이 회복됐으며 범죄전력이 없는 초범"임을 고려했다고 양형 이유를 설명했다.The court explained the reason for the sentence, saying, "At the time of the accident, the defendant's blood alcohol concentration was high and the driving distance was not short, so it needs to be severely punished."
김새론은 이날 1심 선고 공판 이후 취재진 앞에서 "죄송하다는 말 말고는 드릴 말씀이 없다"고 말했다.After the first trial, Kim Sae-ron said in front of reporters, "I have nothing to say except I'm sorry."

김새론은 지난해 5월 오전 8시께 서울 강남구 청담동에서 만취 상태로 음주운전을 하다 가드레일과 가로수, 변압기 등을 여러 차례 들이받는 사고를 냈다.Kim Sae-ron was drunk driving in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, at 8 a.m. last May, and crashed into guard rails, street trees, and transformers several times. 이 사고로 변압기가 망가져 주변 상점 등 57곳이 약 3시간 가량 전기 공급이 끊겼고, 횡단보도의 신호등까지 작동하지 않는 피해를 입었다.The accident damaged the transformer, cutting off electricity supply to 57 nearby stores for about three hours, and causing damage to traffic lights on crosswalks.

김새론의 변호인은 첫 공판에서 모든 공소사실을 인정하면서도 "피고인은 술을 멀리하는 삶을 살아가고 있으며 보유 중인 차량을 모두 매각했다.Kim Sae-ron's lawyer admitted all charges at the first trial, but said, "The defendant is living a life away from alcohol and sold all of his vehicles. 피해 보신 분들에게 사과하고 보상하려고 노력한 점을 참작해달라"며 "소녀 가장으로 가족들을 부양해온 김새론은 (음주) 사고 이후 막대한 배상금을 지급해 경제적인 어려움을 겪고 있다.Please take into account the efforts to apologize and compensate the victims, said Kim Sae-ron, who has been supporting her family as a girl's breadwinner, is suffering economic difficulties by paying huge compensation after the (drinking) accident. 이번 사건으로 김새론뿐 아니라 가족도 생활고에 시달리고 있다"고 선처를 호소했다.Not only Kim Sae-ron but also his family are suffering from hardships of life."
김새론은 첫 공판 이후 자신의 생활고에 대한 의혹을 의식한 듯 한 프랜차이즈 카페에서 아르바이트 중인 모습을 공개했다.After the first trial, Kim Sae-ron revealed that she was working part-time at a franchise cafe, apparently conscious of suspicions of her hardships of life. 그러나 해당 업체에서는 김새론의 근무 이력 자체가 없다고 밝혀 되려 논란에 불을 지폈다.However, the company sparked controversy to reveal that Kim Sae-ron had no work history.
공판에서 변호인이 "피고인이 술을 멀리하는 삶을 살아가고 있다"고 선처를 읍소한 것과 달리, 술로 인한 심각한 음주 사고에도 반성 없이 여전히 술을 즐기고 있다는 주장과 정황이 나와 진정성에 의문이 든다는 지적이 이어졌다.Contrary to the lawyer's plea for leniency at the trial, saying, "The defendant is living a life away from alcohol," it was pointed out that the authenticity was questioned as there were claims and circumstances that he was still enjoying alcohol without reflection despite serious drinking accidents.

사고 후 '준비물은 몸뚱이와 술'이라고 적힌 자신의 생일파티 초대장을 만들어 지인들에게 전달했다는 주장이 나온 데 이어, 재판을 하루 앞두고는 김새론이 늦은 밤까지 홀덤 플레이를 즐기고 술을 마셨다는 주장과 함께 증거 사진까지 나와 갑론을박이 일었다.After the accident, some claimed that he made invitations to his birthday party with "body and alcohol" and delivered them to acquaintances, and a day before the trial, Kim Sae-ron even released photos of evidence, claiming that she enjoyed Holdham Play and drank until late at night.
