-중앙대 연극영화과를 다니면서 원래는 영화 연출을 준비했다.Q: I studied theater and film at Chung-Ang University and originally prepared to direct movies. 그러다가 자퇴한 뒤 연출부로 일을 시작했는데.Then, after dropping out, I started working as a director's office.
▶저예산 장편 영화를 연출하려 준비도 했었다.▶I was also preparing to produce a low-budget feature film. 그런데 친한 박규태 감독, 장항준 감독 등이 "넌 감독이 안어울린다.However, close coaches Park Kyu-tae and Jang Hang-joon said, "You don't look good in a coach. 프로듀서를 해야 한다"고 했다.I have to be a producer." 가만히 생각해보니 그 말이 맞기도 했고, 마침 장항준 감독이 권하기도 해서 충무로 생활을 시작했다.When I thought about it, I was right, and coach Jang Hang-joon recommended it, so I started living as Chungmu.

▶BA엔터테인먼트의 BA는 베스트 어소시에이션(Best Association)의 약자다.▶BA Entertainment's BA stands for Best Association. 최고로 협력하자는 게 내 삶의 모토다.My motto is to cooperate as best as possible. 혼자 다 먹으려 욕심내면 결코 오래 할 수도, 잘 할 수도 없다고 생각한다.If you are greedy to eat it all by yourself, I think you can never do it for a long time or do it well. 서로 돕고 협력하면서 같이 일을 하고자 한다.I want to help and cooperate with each other and work together. 다만 단언컨대 재미 없는 걸 하지는 않는다.But I'm sure I don't do anything that's not interesting. 결과에 차이가 있을 뿐이다.There is only a difference in the results. 배우 정진영이 연출한 '사라진 시간' 같은 경우 시나리오를 읽고 너무 좋아서 무보수로 프로듀서로 함께 했다.In the case of "The Lost Time" directed by actor Jinyoung Jung, I read the scenario and liked it so much that I joined the producer without pay. 그렇게 좋아서 하다보니 일이 많아지고 일에 떠밀려서 일을 한다.Because I like it so much, I have a lot of work and I'm pushed to work. 주말에 쉰 적이 없다.I've never had a weekend off. 촬영장에 있거나 촬영장에 간다.I'm on the set or going to the set.
-마동석과 인연이 오래 됐고, '범죄도시' 뿐 아니라 작품을 같이 많이 하고 있는데.I've known Ma for a long time, and I've been working with him not only for "The Outlaws" but also for a lot of works.
▶윤종빈 감독의 '비스티 보이즈' 프로듀서를 할 때 마동석을 처음 만났다.▶ I met Ma Dong-seok for the first time when I was a producer of Yoon Jong-bin's "Bisty 마동석은 그 때부터 본인 영화를 기획했다.Ma Dong-seok has been planning his own movie since then. 그 중 하나가 '범죄도시'다. '성난황소'도 그렇고, '압꾸정'도 그렇게 해서 같이 작업한 영화다.One of them is "The Outlaws," "The Angry Bull" and "Apkujeong" are movies that we worked on together.
-'범죄도시2'는 1편을 같이 한 강윤성 감독이 아닌 이상용 감독이 연출을 했다.- "The Outlaws 2" was directed by Lee Sang-yong, not Kang Yoon-sung, who worked with him in the first movie. 3편도 이상용 감독이 연출하고, '범죄도시4'는 허명행 감독이 메가폰을 잡는다.The third episode is also directed by Lee Sang-yong, and "Criminal City 4" is directed by Huh Myung-haeng. 감독이 계속 바뀌니 그야말로 제작사 프렌차이즈 영화로 자리잡게 됐는데.As the director kept changing, it became a production franchise movie.
▶'범죄도시' 시리즈는 마동석이 처음부터 10개가 넘는 아이템을 갖고 있었다.▶ In the "The Outlaws" series, Ma Dong-seok had more than 10 items from the beginning. 2편은 기획을 마동석, 강윤성 감독 등과 같이 했는데 마침 소재를 정하고 시나리오를 쓸 때 강윤성 감독이 너무 바빴다.The second episode was planned with Ma Dong-seok and Kang Yoon-sung, but Kang Yoon-sung was too busy when he decided on the subject and wrote the scenario. 제안 받은 영화들도 많았고 자신이 준비하는 작품도 있었고.There were a lot of movies that were suggested, and some of them were prepared by themselves prepared. 그래서 조연출을 했던 이상용 감독에게 각색을 맡겼는데 너무 잘했다.So I gave the adaptation to Lee Sang-yong, who was a supporting director, and he did so well. 그래서 연출까지 그대로 이어졌다.That's why the production continued. -'범죄도시2'를 비롯해 코로나19 팬데믹 기간에 가장 많은 작품을 찍은 제작자이고, 가장 많이 개봉시킨 제작자이기도 한데.- He was the producer who shot the most films during the COVID-19 pandemic, including "The Outlaws 2", and also the producer who released the most films.
▶'지푸라기라도 잡고 싶은 짐승들' '침입자' '사라진 시간' '유체이탈자' '범죄도시2' '압꾸정' 등을 개봉시켰고, 촬영을 마쳤는데 코로나19 때문에 아직 개봉 못한 영화들은 '대외비'와 '1947 보스턴' 등이 있다.▶ "Beasts Who Want to Catch Straws," "Intruders," "Disappeared Time," "Physical Evaders," "Criminal City 2" and "Apkujeong" were released, and films that have not yet been released due to COVID-19 include "Foreign Secret" and "1947 Boston." 사실 코로나19 때문에 촬영 자체가 너무 힘들었다.In fact, filming itself was very difficult because of COVID-19. 장소를 안 빌려주고, 밀접 접촉자만 있어도 촬영이 중단됐다.The filming was stopped even if the location was not rented and there was only close contact. 방역과 촬영을 병행하는 나날이었다.It was a day when quarantine and shooting were carried out at the same time. 그 기간 동안 촬영과 방역을 어떻게 하라는 정부지침도 없었다.During that period, there were no government guidelines for filming and quarantine. 그러다보니 아예 우리가 방역준수촬영지침을 만들어서 영진위에 제출하기도 했다.As a result, we made guidelines for compliance with quarantine and submitted them to the Youngjin Committee. 촬영장 입구에서 체온 체크하고, 외부손님 차단하고, 신속검사를 매일 한다 등등으로 촬영지침을 만들었다.They made filming guidelines by checking body temperature at the entrance of the filming site, blocking external guests, and conducting quick inspections every day.
'범죄도시2'는 2020년 초 베트남에 촬영하러 갔다가 코로나19로 베트남이 곧 문을 걸어잠근다고 해서 바로 귀국했다.Crime City 2 went to Vietnam to film in early 2020 and returned home immediately because Vietnam said it would soon lock down due to COVID-19. 국내 분량만 먼저 찍고 계속 기다리고 있었다.I was waiting for the domestic scene first. 그러다가 이상용 감독이 죽어도 한국에서 찍자고 하면서 방법을 모색하기 시작했다.Then, coach Lee Sang-yong began to find a way to film it in Korea even if he died. 그해 11월에 한국에서 찍자고 최종 결정했다.In November of that year, we finally decided to film it in Korea. 다만 베트남 같은 빛의 조건을 맞추려면 2021년 5월에 한국에서 찍자고 결정하고 준비했다.However, in order to meet the conditions of light like Vietnam, it was decided and prepared to take it in Korea in May 2021. 모든 콘티를 준비하고 시나리오를 고쳤다.I prepared all the script and fixed the scenario. 베트남에서 찍어온 촬영소스를 CG에 입히기 위해 모든 앵글을 사전에 합을 맞췄다.All the angles were combined in advance to add CG to the filming source taken in Vietnam.

▶1편의 메인 빌런인 윤계상이 너무 잘해서 뉴페이스 중에 누가 좋을까 고민을 많이 했다.Yoon Kye-sang, the main villain of ▶, did so well that I thought a lot about who would be good among the new faces. 그러다가 손석구가 영화 4편 주연 제안을 받았다는 소문을 들었다.Then, I heard rumors that Son Seok-gu was offered a lead role in four movies. 그래서 감독과 같이 손석구가 출연한 '멜로가 체질'을 다 찾아봤다.So, like the director, I looked up all the "Melo Is My Nature" starring Son Seok-gu. 너무 잘 할 것 같았다.I thought I'd do too well. 마침 본인도 '범죄도시' 팬이었다고 하더라.He said he was also a "criminal city" fan. 같이 하기로 했고, 그러면서 (내가 제작한) 디즈니플러스 '카지노'도 같이 하자고 했다.I decided to do it together, and at the same time, I asked him to do Disney Plus "Casino" (which I produced). 다행이고 행운이다.I'm glad and lucky.
-범죄도시2'를 개봉하기도 전에 '범죄도시3'과 4편 제작을 연속으로 하기로 결정했는데.Before releasing "The Outlaws 2", I decided to produce "The Outlaws 3" and "The Outlaws 3" in a row. 모험 아니었나.Wasn't it an adventure?
▶'범죄도시'는 시작부터 8편의 아이템을 갖고 있었다.▶ "The Outlaws" had eight items from the beginning. 그럼에도 2편이 개봉하기도 전에 3,4편을 연속으로 제작하는 건 매우 모험이었던 게 사실이었다.Nevertheless, it was very adventurous to produce three or four movies in a row even before the second movie was released. '범죄도시2'가 이렇게 잘 될 줄 아무도 몰랐으니깐.No one knew "The Outlaws 2" would be this successful. 그래도 이 시리즈가 꾸준히 관객들에게 사랑을 받을 것이란 확신이 있었다.Still, I was confident that this series would consistently be loved by the audience. 그것에 동의해주신 고마운 분들이 계셨고.There were people I was grateful for who agreed to it.
-'범죄도시' 시리즈는 이제 마동석 뿐 아니라 각 시리즈의 메인 빌런도 관심의 대상이 됐는데.Not only Ma Dong-seok but also the main villains of each series are interested in the series.
▶3편은 이준혁, 4편은 김무열이 메인 빌런이다.The main villains are Lee Joon-hyuk in ▶3 and Kim Moo-yeol in 4. 4편까지 최근 촬영을 마치면서 깨달은 건 이 시리즈에서 빌런을 맡은 배우들에겐 다 공통점이 있다는 점이다.What I realized as I recently finished filming up to the fourth episode is that all the actors who played villains in this series have something in common. 상당히 매우 집요하다.It's quite persistent 정말 집요할 정도로 캐릭터에 파고든다.I'm really obsessed with the character. 그렇게 하면서 자신만의 빌런을 만들었다.In doing so, he created his own villain. 이준혁은 잘생기고 선해보이는 외모에서 뿜어나오는 섬찍함이 있다.Lee Joon-hyuk has a smartness emanating from his handsome and good-looking appearance. 3편은 마약 관련 이야기라 야쿠자로 나오고 여러모로 볼거리가 풍성하다.The third movie is about drugs, so it comes out as a yakuza and has a lot of things to see in many ways.
김무열은 제일 말이 없는 빌런인데 제일 싸움을 잘하는 빌런이다.Kim Moo-yeol is the quietest villain, but he is the best fighter. 1,2,3편 통틀어서 빌런 중 가장 잘 싸운다.He fights the best among villains in all the first, second, and third movies. 마동석과 엄청나게 맞붙는다.He will face Ma Dong-seok tremendously. 4편은 필리핀에 기반을 둔 불법온라인도박 관련 이야기다.Part four is about illegal online gambling based in the Philippines. 내년 초에 필리핀 촬영을 진행할 계획이다.We plan to shoot in the Philippines early next year.
-2편까지 금천서가 배경이었는데 3편부터 광수대로 옮긴 까닭은.The background of the second book was Geumcheon-seo, but why did you move to Gwangsudae from the third book?
▶시리즈를 유지하려면 동일성을 갖고 가는 한편 신선함이 있어야 한다고 생각했다.In order to maintain the ▶ series, I thought it needed to be consistent and fresh. 그래서 새로운 인물과 더 큰 이야기가 필요해서 광수대로 마석도 형사의 직장을 옮겼다.Therefore, he needed a bigger story with a new person, so he moved to Gwangsudae to work as a detective.
-디즈니플러스에서 최근 공개된 '카지노'를 필리핀에서 정말 믿기지 않는 일정으로 촬영을 끝마쳤는데.- We just finished filming the recently released Casino on Disney Plus in the Philippines with an incredible schedule.
▶'카지노'는 원래 강윤성 감독과 최민식이 할리우드 영화 '인턴' 리메이크를 찍으려다가 워너브라더스가 한국영화 사업에서 철수하면서 무산되자 그 뒤부터 본격적으로 준비한 프로젝트다.▶ "Casino" is a project that director Kang Yoon-sung and Choi Min-sik originally planned to film a remake of the Hollywood movie "The Intern" but failed when Warner Brothers withdrew from the Korean film business. 강윤성 감독이 계속 생각하던 작품이었고.It was a work that director Kang Yoon-sung had been thinking about. 정말 힘든 촬영이었는데 최민식을 비롯한 배우들과 스태프들이 엄청 고생을 많이 하면서도 정말 최선을 다했다.It was a really hard filming, but Choi Min-sik and other actors and staff worked really hard, but they did their best. 그 때 경험한 노하우를 '범죄도시4' 필리핀 촬영에서 잘 쓸 수 있을 것 같다.I think I can use the know-how I experienced at that time well in filming "Criminal City 4" in the Philippines. 이동휘는 '카지노'와 '범죄도시4'에도 같이 하게 됐다.Lee Dong-hwi also joined "Casino" and "Criminal City 4."

-마동석과 인연이 오래 됐고, '범죄도시' 뿐 아니라 작품을 같이 많이 하고 있는데.I've known Ma for a long time, and I've been working with him not only for "The Outlaws" but also for a lot of works.
▶윤종빈 감독의 '비스티 보이즈' 프로듀서를 할 때 마동석을 처음 만났다.▶ I met Ma Dong-seok for the first time when I was a producer of Yoon Jong-bin's "Bisty 마동석은 그 때부터 본인 영화를 기획했다.Ma Dong-seok has been planning his own movie since then. 그 중 하나가 '범죄도시'다. '성난황소'도 그렇고, '압꾸정'도 그렇게 해서 같이 작업한 영화다.One of them is "The Outlaws," "The Angry Bull" and "Apkujeong" are movies that we worked on together.
-'범죄도시2'는 1편을 같이 한 강윤성 감독이 아닌 이상용 감독이 연출을 했다.- "The Outlaws 2" was directed by Lee Sang-yong, not Kang Yoon-sung, who worked with him in the first movie. 3편도 이상용 감독이 연출하고, '범죄도시4'는 허명행 감독이 메가폰을 잡는다.The third episode is also directed by Lee Sang-yong, and "Criminal City 4" is directed by Huh Myung-haeng. 감독이 계속 바뀌니 그야말로 제작사 프렌차이즈 영화로 자리잡게 됐는데.As the director kept changing, it became a production franchise movie.

▶'지푸라기라도 잡고 싶은 짐승들' '침입자' '사라진 시간' '유체이탈자' '범죄도시2' '압꾸정' 등을 개봉시켰고, 촬영을 마쳤는데 코로나19 때문에 아직 개봉 못한 영화들은 '대외비'와 '1947 보스턴' 등이 있다.▶ "Beasts Who Want to Catch Straws," "Intruders," "Disappeared Time," "Physical Evaders," "Criminal City 2" and "Apkujeong" were released, and films that have not yet been released due to COVID-19 include "Foreign Secret" and "1947 Boston." 사실 코로나19 때문에 촬영 자체가 너무 힘들었다.In fact, filming itself was very difficult because of COVID-19. 장소를 안 빌려주고, 밀접 접촉자만 있어도 촬영이 중단됐다.The filming was stopped even if the location was not rented and there was only close contact. 방역과 촬영을 병행하는 나날이었다.It was a day when quarantine and shooting were carried out at the same time. 그 기간 동안 촬영과 방역을 어떻게 하라는 정부지침도 없었다.During that period, there were no government guidelines for filming and quarantine. 그러다보니 아예 우리가 방역준수촬영지침을 만들어서 영진위에 제출하기도 했다.As a result, we made guidelines for compliance with quarantine and submitted them to the Youngjin Committee. 촬영장 입구에서 체온 체크하고, 외부손님 차단하고, 신속검사를 매일 한다 등등으로 촬영지침을 만들었다.They made filming guidelines by checking body temperature at the entrance of the filming site, blocking external guests, and conducting quick inspections every day.
'범죄도시2'는 2020년 초 베트남에 촬영하러 갔다가 코로나19로 베트남이 곧 문을 걸어잠근다고 해서 바로 귀국했다.Crime City 2 went to Vietnam to film in early 2020 and returned home immediately because Vietnam said it would soon lock down due to COVID-19. 국내 분량만 먼저 찍고 계속 기다리고 있었다.I was waiting for the domestic scene first. 그러다가 이상용 감독이 죽어도 한국에서 찍자고 하면서 방법을 모색하기 시작했다.Then, coach Lee Sang-yong began to find a way to film it in Korea even if he died. 그해 11월에 한국에서 찍자고 최종 결정했다.In November of that year, we finally decided to film it in Korea. 다만 베트남 같은 빛의 조건을 맞추려면 2021년 5월에 한국에서 찍자고 결정하고 준비했다.However, in order to meet the conditions of light like Vietnam, it was decided and prepared to take it in Korea in May 2021. 모든 콘티를 준비하고 시나리오를 고쳤다.I prepared all the script and fixed the scenario. 베트남에서 찍어온 촬영소스를 CG에 입히기 위해 모든 앵글을 사전에 합을 맞췄다.All the angles were combined in advance to add CG to the filming source taken in Vietnam.

▶1편의 메인 빌런인 윤계상이 너무 잘해서 뉴페이스 중에 누가 좋을까 고민을 많이 했다.Yoon Kye-sang, the main villain of ▶, did so well that I thought a lot about who would be good among the new faces. 그러다가 손석구가 영화 4편 주연 제안을 받았다는 소문을 들었다.Then, I heard rumors that Son Seok-gu was offered a lead role in four movies. 그래서 감독과 같이 손석구가 출연한 '멜로가 체질'을 다 찾아봤다.So, like the director, I looked up all the "Melo Is My Nature" starring Son Seok-gu. 너무 잘 할 것 같았다.I thought I'd do too well. 마침 본인도 '범죄도시' 팬이었다고 하더라.He said he was also a "criminal city" fan. 같이 하기로 했고, 그러면서 (내가 제작한) 디즈니플러스 '카지노'도 같이 하자고 했다.I decided to do it together, and at the same time, I asked him to do Disney Plus "Casino" (which I produced). 다행이고 행운이다.I'm glad and lucky.
-범죄도시2'를 개봉하기도 전에 '범죄도시3'과 4편 제작을 연속으로 하기로 결정했는데.Before releasing "The Outlaws 2", I decided to produce "The Outlaws 3" and "The Outlaws 3" in a row. 모험 아니었나.Wasn't it an adventure?
▶'범죄도시'는 시작부터 8편의 아이템을 갖고 있었다.▶ "The Outlaws" had eight items from the beginning. 그럼에도 2편이 개봉하기도 전에 3,4편을 연속으로 제작하는 건 매우 모험이었던 게 사실이었다.Nevertheless, it was very adventurous to produce three or four movies in a row even before the second movie was released. '범죄도시2'가 이렇게 잘 될 줄 아무도 몰랐으니깐.No one knew "The Outlaws 2" would be this successful. 그래도 이 시리즈가 꾸준히 관객들에게 사랑을 받을 것이란 확신이 있었다.Still, I was confident that this series would consistently be loved by the audience. 그것에 동의해주신 고마운 분들이 계셨고.There were people I was grateful for who agreed to it.
-'범죄도시' 시리즈는 이제 마동석 뿐 아니라 각 시리즈의 메인 빌런도 관심의 대상이 됐는데.Not only Ma Dong-seok but also the main villains of each series are interested in the series.

김무열은 제일 말이 없는 빌런인데 제일 싸움을 잘하는 빌런이다.Kim Moo-yeol is the quietest villain, but he is the best fighter. 1,2,3편 통틀어서 빌런 중 가장 잘 싸운다.He fights the best among villains in all the first, second, and third movies. 마동석과 엄청나게 맞붙는다.He will face Ma Dong-seok tremendously. 4편은 필리핀에 기반을 둔 불법온라인도박 관련 이야기다.Part four is about illegal online gambling based in the Philippines. 내년 초에 필리핀 촬영을 진행할 계획이다.We plan to shoot in the Philippines early next year.
-2편까지 금천서가 배경이었는데 3편부터 광수대로 옮긴 까닭은.The background of the second book was Geumcheon-seo, but why did you move to Gwangsudae from the third book?
▶시리즈를 유지하려면 동일성을 갖고 가는 한편 신선함이 있어야 한다고 생각했다.In order to maintain the ▶ series, I thought it needed to be consistent and fresh. 그래서 새로운 인물과 더 큰 이야기가 필요해서 광수대로 마석도 형사의 직장을 옮겼다.Therefore, he needed a bigger story with a new person, so he moved to Gwangsudae to work as a detective.
-디즈니플러스에서 최근 공개된 '카지노'를 필리핀에서 정말 믿기지 않는 일정으로 촬영을 끝마쳤는데.- We just finished filming the recently released Casino on Disney Plus in the Philippines with an incredible schedule.
▶'카지노'는 원래 강윤성 감독과 최민식이 할리우드 영화 '인턴' 리메이크를 찍으려다가 워너브라더스가 한국영화 사업에서 철수하면서 무산되자 그 뒤부터 본격적으로 준비한 프로젝트다.▶ "Casino" is a project that director Kang Yoon-sung and Choi Min-sik originally planned to film a remake of the Hollywood movie "The Intern" but failed when Warner Brothers withdrew from the Korean film business. 강윤성 감독이 계속 생각하던 작품이었고.It was a work that director Kang Yoon-sung had been thinking about. 정말 힘든 촬영이었는데 최민식을 비롯한 배우들과 스태프들이 엄청 고생을 많이 하면서도 정말 최선을 다했다.It was a really hard filming, but Choi Min-sik and other actors and staff worked really hard, but they did their best. 그 때 경험한 노하우를 '범죄도시4' 필리핀 촬영에서 잘 쓸 수 있을 것 같다.I think I can use the know-how I experienced at that time well in filming "Criminal City 4" in the Philippines. 이동휘는 '카지노'와 '범죄도시4'에도 같이 하게 됐다.Lee Dong-hwi also joined "Casino" and "Criminal City 4."
